| VALENCIA, CALIF – U.S. HealthWorks Medical Group, a leading operator of occupational health care centers in the nation, today announced the acquisition of five of the six Medero Medical centers in Florida. This acquisition increases the footprint of U.S. HealthWorks to 11 medical centers in the state of Florida and 123 nationwide.
The medical centers located in Orlando, Tampa, and Leesburg are dedicated occupational medicine facilities focused on providing injury and illness diagnosis and treatment, preventive services, pre-placement and post-offer exams and testing, and return-to-work programs. (The Medero Medical Center in Ocala remains independently owned and was not acquired by U.S. HealthWorks.) Terms of the transaction, completed May 1, 2009, were not disclosed.
“We welcome the fine staff of these centers to our organization,” said Greg Marotta, U.S. HealthWorks Vice President Operations, East Division. “We look forward to serving their existing clients and adding new ones who currently use U.S. HealthWorks services in other parts of the country.”
“We're happy that a national company such as U.S. HealthWorks will be acquiring these practices and providing care to our patients, some of whom we have served for two decades,” said Cookie Dominie, Vice President of Medero Medical. “We are confident that our clients and patients will be in good hands.”
Leonard Okun, M.D., National Medical Director for U.S. HealthWorks said, “These are strong, established centers, and we are committed to maintaining the same level of quality medical care and customer service at each of them.”
