According to the latest report from the Center of Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), there have been significant increases in flu activity nationwide, with 25 states reporting widespread flu activity while another 20 are reporting regional activity.
The CDC is urging all those who have still not gotten their flu vaccine to get vaccinated.
U.S. HealthWorks Medical Group, a leading operator of occupational healthcare and urgent care centers in the nation, has flu vaccine available at all its 203 locations in 19 states.
U.S. HealthWorks administers flu shots at all of its centers and also visits workplaces to vaccinate large groups of employees. The on-site program is available to businesses providing vaccinations for 25 employees or more and in the vicinity of a U.S. HealthWorks location.
“Without a doubt, the single best way to protect against the flu is to get vaccinated every year,” said Dr. Mark Pucek, Chief Medical Officer, for U.S. HealthWorks. “Many people have good intentions, but for whatever reason they haven’t received their flu shot yet. It is not too late. Everyone 6 months and older should get vaccinated.”
Influenza shouldn’t be taken lightly because it’s a serious disease that can lead to hospitalization and sometimes even death. Every flu season is different, and influenza infection can affect people differently. Even healthy people can get very sick from the flu and spread it to others.
