FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – Dr. Gilbert Whitmer, Managing Physician and Medical Director at U.S. HealthWorks in Fayetteville, is among the many outstanding physicians that make up the talented team of medical professionals at U.S. HealthWorks.
The U.S. HealthWorks Managing Physician program recognizes leadership and management skills of the U.S. HealthWorks Medical Group in its continual pursuit of the Highest Quality of Care initiatives based on “exceptionalism.” The program goals are based on exceptional medical care delivered by exceptional medical providers.
U.S. HealthWorks Medical Group providers with outstanding clinical, leadership, and managerial skills are named Managing Physicians and utilize those skills to effect positive changes to the quality of care and performance of the U.S. HealthWorks centers.

They are responsible for the center they manage, and take on a huge role, ensuring that we have well-cared for patients, and a productive staff of medical professionals.”
Dr. Whitmer has been a part of U.S. HealthWorks since 2007, when he joined the team in Fayetteville as Medical Director. He has been practicing medicine for 18 years.

Dr. Whitmer earned his medical degree from John Hopkins School of Medicine in Baltimore, MD. He later attended the University of South Carolina Medical School, where he completed an Orthopedic Surgical residency. He completed a subspecialty fellowship in Hand Surgery at Campbell Clinic, one of the world’s leading orthopedic centers, and the University of Tennessee, Memphis.
Prior to joining U.S. HealthWorks, Dr. Whitmer was a Surgeon and Managing Partner at Carolina Regional Orthopaedics and Chief of Medical Staff at Community Hospital, both located in Rocky Mount, NC.
In addition to his extensive medical experience, Dr. Whitmer has been Board Certified in Orthopedic Surgery by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery. He is also a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons.
