Many people tend to take a break from their rigid workout programs once summer ends and the cooler fall season comes around. Layering and bundling replace bikinis and board shorts, and the drops in temperatures make it hard for most to stay committed to their nightly run schedule.
Despite these factors, however, fitness experts point to the fall season as the best time to get up and keep moving, especially because the holidays are just around the corner. If you think about it, this advice does make sense.
For many people, the difficulty to get back into shape in time for summer can be traced back to when they let up on their programs on account of the colder season. In fact, even sports physical therapists echo the sentiments of fitness experts in this regard. For them, there’s no better time to begin your new workout regimen than during fall.
The best part about these workout tips is that you don’t even have to go outside to do them. You can literally do these exercises right inside your own home. It takes minimal to no equipment, simply your perseverance and dedication to the program.
Now there’s no reason for you to say that it’s too cold outside and so you won’t be able to run. The number one thing you have to fight off during the fall and winter season is not the cold, but rather the laziness that prevents you from moving and working out.
One of the exercises you can do is planking, which is done for 30 seconds each with 10-second intervals in between sets. This helps activate your core, as well as helps develop your balance.
If you have an elastic band, you can use it to do rowing reps to tone your arms and shoulders. Put your feet inside the band then stretch and pull the other end all the way to your chest with both arms. Keep your back and your legs straight as you repeat the process.
For your legs and glutes, you can do a series of lunges. You can also jog in place, or burn some calories as you do cardio if you have a treadmill or an exercise bike.
These are just a few of the things you can do to keep in shape during fall. You can consult as well with a sports physical urgent care center, such as U.S. HealthWorks, to avoid injuries or to get treatment for them if necessary.
